Challenge

For 27 years, the Heist Awards have recognised and celebrated marketing excellence in further and higher education. The Havas-organised event is internationally recognised and seen as the premier awards programme across the sector. As well as reviewing the award categories each year to keep pace with the changes in the sector, we have to produce an annual event worthy of showcasing the brilliant work we see entered and provide a platform for our colleagues to celebrate their success in style.

Solution

First of all, we review the previous year’s event with insight from judges, attendees and of course the team at Havas People. We choose an event theme early to ensure all branding and promotion is recognisable and in sync from day one. Our expertise in events allows us to project manage every single step of the journey, from building the online entry and ticket system to managing the logistics of transforming the room from blank canvas to a spectacular venue. Not to mention selecting a memorable menu and choosing the right entertainment for one of the most anticipated nights of the year. We also like to rope in a seasoned host to charm the audience and help present the awards to our worthy winners.

Success

The Heist Awards continue to build in size and stature. At the conclusion of each event, we’re told that year’s ceremony was the biggest and best yet. In 2017, we celebrated in Traditional British Seaside style with over 80 institutions entering their work and hundreds of people descending on Manchester to see the results. We even developed our own events app to keep everyone well informed leading up to the big day. The Heist Awards see no sign of slowing down and preparation for 2018 has already begun in earnest.
