Challenge

The University of Hull has set out a four year strategic plan outlining an ambitious investment driven plan to ensure “continued growth in stature, reputation and influence, to achieve a step change in its performance and safeguard its academic, financial and environmental sustainability”.

Part of this plan has resulted in significant restructure across the University with the requirement to attract new talent with new skills that can take the University forward.


We were therefore tasked by our senior stakeholder HR advisor at the University to recruit the following key roles:   


·        Events & Conference Sales
·        Head of Digital Marketing  
·        Internal Communications Manager  
·        PR & Media Manager
·        Production Manager   

Solution

The client wanted to take a ‘below the radar approach’ in attracting these individuals. TalentMatch fitted this brief perfectly. It allowed us to be incredibly targeted in identifying this talent pool through our preliminary test searches but also take a more personalised approach and reach out individually to potential candidates whilst avoiding alerting the wider marketplace.

Our test searches evidenced that a suitable talent base with the unique blend of skills we were seeking existed within a 50 mile radius of the University and therefore validated our approach. Also, had the client used an Executive Search and Selection Agency costs would have been prohibitive - TalentMatch proved to be a very effective and efficient way to fill the roles.

Our activity contributed significantly in enabling the University to recruit to all but one of these roles.
