CASE STUDY: COSTA COFFEE - THE SOUNDTRACKTURNING NEW VALUES INTO AN EVERYDAY AUDIO EXPERIENCE
The Challenge
In 2019, Costa Coffee was bought by The Coca-Cola Company. Overnight their ambition changed from extending their reputation as the UK’s favourite coffee shop to becoming a global total coffee company. It meant a new mission, new purpose, new employer promise and new set of values. A set of values that they needed to be embed across the organisation.
The Solution
We wanted whatever we did to support the spirit of the new employer promise – Now is the Moment. So, following input from team members, we combined real Costa Coffee sounds with real instruments to create The Soundtrack. Four pieces of music that not only captured the essence of Passion, Warmth, Courage and Trust but made you feel those values too.
The Results
In the first month of the Soundtrack being released, the tracks were streamed over 20,000 times and downloaded a further 1,000. Since then The Soundtrack has been used at events and remixed for leadership events. It is also the holding music on Costa’s conference call system and pre-loaded onto all phones that are given to new starters.
